Thank you gift from Tohoku

We received lovely Kusudama (Origami balls) as a thank you gift for the Thai people's support from Ms. Nishiyama  from Ishimnomaki, Miyagi in Tohoku.

Ms. Nishiyama joined Tohokucraft / Majikiri Project, which is one of the projects we donated funds from the Art auction. She lived in the shelter until they closed it, then moved into a temporary housing in September 2011.

宮城県石巻市の西山さんという女性から、タイの皆さんの支援へのお礼にと、色のきれいな手作りのくす玉が届きました。
西山さんは昨年のオークションの寄付先「間仕切りプロジェクト」から派生した「Tohokucraft」に参加されていた方で、最後まで避難所にいたそうですが９月末に無事仮設住宅へうつられたそうです。

One year

It have been a year since the Tohoku earthquake happened.

We want to say thank you again to
all the friends that called us on the same day as the earthquake and asked "Tell me if I can do anything?",
Artists who generously contributed great works for the charity auction, and
everyone who came to our events.

Affected people in Japan work hard to get their life back to normal, become independent,
and to be able to reward the good faith of the Thai people.

A lot of people have worried, suffered and felt sorrow.

I have many things in my mind too.

The sadness of not being able to see each other after saying "See you again" when separating in the street.
lover on the phone saying "Talk to you tomorrow", or family saying "Have a nice day" when leaving home.

how precious it is to be able to meet again and say "How are you?"
to say "Good morning!"
and being greeted with "Welcome back".

Wish we all will appreciate to be alive, and move forward together.

昨年の震災から１年経ちました。

地震が起きた当日に「僕に出来る事があったら何でもするから」と電話をくれた友人に。
チャリティーオークションに素晴らしい作品を快く寄付してくれたアーティストの方々に。
イベントに来てくれた皆さんに、改めて心からお礼を申し上げます。

被災した人々は、タイの皆さんの善意に報いるように、復興し、自立すべく、日々努力しています。

沢山の人がこの災害に対して想い、悩み、悲しみました。
感じる事は多くありましたが私がここで語るまでもないかと思います。

ただ単純に
「また会おう」と言って道で別れた友人に
「また明日」と言って電話を切った愛する人に
「行ってきます」と言って出て行った家族に
もう２度と会えない事の悲しさと

「久しぶり」と再会し
「おはよう」と呼びかけ
「おかえり」と迎えられる事の喜びを

私達が今こうして生きていられる事の尊さを

改めて感じ、そして皆で前に進んで行けたらと思います。
